Time-saving Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring is once again upon us which means that it’s time for the big spring cleaning. I know it’s tedious and exhausting, but fear not, I’ll give you some very good advice. So without further ado, here are the most useful spring cleaning tips and tricks that will surely come in handy to you.

To get your house scrubbed clean you don’t necessarily have to buy every single toxic detergent that you see in the supermarket. On the contrary, you can make your house sparkle by using just some simple supplies, many of which, I’m sure, you already have.

Baking soda

Mixing baking soda with warm water (ratio of 3 to 1) is going to do miracles for cleaning the oven and the kitchen stains. Another good way to use baking soda for the purpose of cleaning is to mix it with dishwashing liquid until you have a thick paste. This concoction is perfect for cleaning your tiles and bathtub.

Lemon juice and white vinegar

Mixed with water, both of these natural cleaners are extremely efficient for washing windows/mirrors, removing soap scum and mopping wood floors.

Olive oil

Mix a freshly squeezed lemon juice with a tablespoon of water and a tablespoon of olive oil in a container. Close the lid and shake well until the ingredients are emulsified. Then apply the polish to your furniture and wipe it down with a cloth. Works like a charm!

Gin or Vodka

Yes that’s right. Mix 40ml of gin or vodka, 200ml filtered water and 30-50 drops of essential oil (citrus or jasmine for instance) in a spraying bottle. Simply spray around the house and you’ll get an instant freshness.

Lastly, the idea behind the spring cleaning is to clean your household thoroughly. That is not a job you can do on your own. What I’m subtly trying to imply is, get the whole family involved in the process. While you are cleaning the inside of your home, make your partner clean the garage or the driveway for example. If you have kids, make them clean their rooms. Everyone should contribute to the effort!
