Now, something delicious to get you pumped up with positive energy from minute one of the new day. A breakfast for champions, lovely declaration of love or yet another reason for the kids to help you mess up the kitchen, the heart-shaped, strawberry-Nutella stacked French toast makes for a mouth-watering meal, if not the most low-calorie one.
While the picture, as usual, speaks more than words ever could about the preparation process, for all of you who still favour the old-fashion ways of reading the recipe, I have prepared my favourite recipe from the lovely blog – Quick and Easy Recipes (the image is also theirs).
For one portion you will need:
- Heart-shaped French toast – In this case, it was made with challah bread, French toast batter (2 eggs, ¼ tsp. Vanilla, ½ cup of milk, 1 tsp. Cinammon);
- 3 large strawberries – organic are best, don’t forget to slice them;
- 2 tbsp. Mascarpone Cheese;
- 2 pads of butter – preferably salted;
- 2 tbsp. Nutella
To make the French toast, you need to whisk your batter, heat the skillet and submerge each challah into the batter for a second into the batter. To prevent the challah from sticking, quickly melt some butter before adding the slice to the skillet. When the heart-shaped toast gets that yummy golden look, you can take them off the skillet and let them cool off for a short while. After all, you wouldn’t want to melt the Mascarpone Cheese way too soon.
When the toast has cooled off to room temperature, you can proceed with making the deliciousness from the picture. Basically, you will be making a sandwich by alternating a layer with Nutella, a layer of strawberries and a layer of Mascarpone.
If you are in the mood for extra decoration, you can add some whip cream on top of your toast and sprinkle some cinnamon.
