“He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals.” – Immanuel Kant.
Sadly enough, in the age of technology we have become preoccupied with ourselves and our own needs. More often than not, we forget about the seriousness and the scale of global problems, such as environmental and wildlife issues, which are directly related to our survival as a species.
Unfortunately, at this point in time we are part of the problem rather than the solution. Needless to say, this has to change before it’s too late. In the ensuing struggle for change each and every one of us has to take responsibility for their actions and do what’s necessary to preserve the Earth’s environment and wildlife.
This week is “Be Kind To Animals Week”, and as you might have already guessed, it is dedicated to honouring and helping our animal friends, as well as raising awareness for animal rights. Now, we know that you love your pets and are kind to them all around the year, but the idea behind this event is to educate others on the humane treatment of animals and remind mankind of the debt we owe them. I strongly encourage you to take interest in the matter and contribute your fair share in helping the global efforts to put an end to the horrendous treatment of animals, both domestic and wild.
I call on to you to become involved in the events that are taking place during this week, or make something else meaningful that will contribute to the cause. Whether you decide to build a bird feeder, volunteer/donate money, or even adopt your new best friend from an animal shelter, I assure you, even the smallest actions you take will have tremendous consequences.
It is our duty to give a voice to wildlife.
