So, the kids have finally flew the nest. That, dear parents, is a new chapter of your lives that ought to be celebrated. A good way to make yourselves the perfect gift is by embarking on that long awaited home renovation project. A small home fitness, a state of the art game room, or a guest bedroom. Those are just a few of the many options you can choose from when planning what to do with the empty bedroom.

Why Is Home Renovation What You Need?

And so, instead of leaving your kid’s empty room unused, do something creative with it, something you’ll enjoy. You can keep it the way it is, so your child could have somewhere familiar to come home to, but there is really no point in doing that. Why? Well, first of all, the room will serve no useful purpose to you and second, it will only make it harder for you to let go of your already grown up child.

From a practical point of view, having an entire room to transform is also the perfect time to undertake a larger overall home renewal. Moreover, such an investment will not only keep you occupied (that is, if you decide to do the renovation by yourself), it will also boost the resale value of your property. Therefore, get creative and get to work.

Here are some neat suggestions that will get your ideas flowing.

Game Room

Having a play room has become increasingly popular in the recent years with a good reason. Without the kids at home to get in the way, inviting friends over for a game of Poker, Mah-jongg or Uno might as well become a weekly happening. What’s even better, such a project wouldn’t require too much work. Just remove the old furniture and put a round table, some nice club chairs, cabinets and maybe a nice bar and you’ve got it all sorted out.

A Space of One’s Own

That’s another trend that’s gaining popularity. Every couple needs space and having a room where spouses can be left alone to do their own stuff can go a long way to keeping the peace at home. And turning the extra bedroom in such a space is the way to get that space.

A Guest Bedroom

Making a guest bedroom, on the other hand, is a good way to keep the functionality of the room. That way your kid will have a place to crash during the holidays and at the same time you will be prepared to welcome relatives and other unexpected guests. Bear in mind that making a guest bedroom will be more expensive that the other projects we’ve listed.

Lastly, whatever you decide to do with the empty space, make sure that you’ll love it and that it suits the rest of your house. Good luck.
