These sweet DIY sugar cubes are perfect, if you want to impress your guests with fancy coffee or tea tray. When you want to emphasize on every little detail, and combine everything into the best assembly ever, you can never go wrong with personalizing the smallest details, leaving your imprint on them and leaving your guests speechless.
The lovely small DIY sugar cubes are extremely easy to make, and can be turned into a fun project for your little angels to engage in. There is just one little detail you shouldn’t forget – for the cubes to dry and harden, they have to be left in the fridge overnight.
Without further ado, here is what you are going to need:
- Granulated sugar – use both brown and white for the different figures;
- Candy mold or odd-shaped ice cube tray to form the cubes
Mix half a teacup of sugar with small amount of water in the bowl. Use the teaspoon to doze the water, so that you don’t add too much at once. Keep “dropping” water, until you have a paste-like substance. Make sure not to melt the sugar when mixing it up with the water, or you will loose that appealing crystal look.
Now, you are all set to fill the ice cube tray/ candy mold. Fill just half of each spot as you wouldn’t want gigantic sugar cubes, no one will use. Afterwards, press the mixture hard to the tray, and let it dry overnight. On the following day, all that is left for you to do is carefully remove the cubes from the tray, and arrange them beautifully at your tea/ coffee set.
For even more fabulous results, you can try making colourful sugar cubes by adding some food colouring while mixing the ingredients. If you aren’t sure how it will affect the consistence of the substance, you should better use gel food colouring that will even improve the texture of the cubes.
